What's In My OS That's Taking So Long To Scan?
I have tried all recommendations on this page including re-installing Antivirus Pro three times now..THREE TIMES & still will not complete scan in 24hrs. There's no need to run a scan with Avira AntiVir and have it run for 75 hours. I wish I had Duo Core or that Extreme Core by Intel and at least 2GB of memory but I don't so I have to work with what I have. That actually seems more than a bit off...but ok...whatever.

Alexander. My system has "only" about 200GB of 3TB used and according to sophos scan...about 8 million files. Your best options would've been to run its built-in recovery partition(if it has one) and revert it back to its original factory condition, or boot from a XP CD and format Avira Slow Scan Windows 10 but I certainly do not see myself upgrading to the paid version based on scan times! Got a weird issue- restarting the machine is taking more than 2-3 mins. Those are the directory's that the are causing the problems with scan times because they won't open for Avira. Also the thought that there was a huge upgrade directory from Windows 7 left over is total BS. Avira worked just fine with Win 7 on my old PC but struggles with Win8.1. Check to make sure these are not the problem. Much much better, but still in my opinion way to slow.

A lot of toolbars and extra crap gets installed with them if you don't take time to read each screen so you can decline and opt out to install that stuff.
