Are you looking for the solution to your computer problem? Microsoft's storage service provides a Music folder for this very purpose, and you're free to place music in there in any organizational scheme you prefer. (I use top-level artist folders with I don't have iTunes so I'm not sure which method it uses, but it will definitely be different than the way Windows does it.
